Astro expands pay-TV of Malaysia homes

Malaysian satellite TV services provider Astro reports it has reached a share of 69 percent of the country’s residential pay-TV market. Astro plans to expand its service coverage to 90 percent of Malaysian households in the next five years, The Nation reports, citing Astro CEO Datuk Rohana Rozhan. Of Astro’s 3.5 million pay-TV customers, around 900,000 are currently using Astro’s Personal Video Recorder (PVR) service. The operator wants those customers to connect their set-top boxes to the internet. To date, only 350,000 PVR users have connected their PVRs to the internet.
